classmate from college

we met up with one of my friends from college last saturday. it was nice catching up on how things were with everyone. we just had some dessert at this restaurant in the neighborhood. it's just nice seeing friends who you haven't seen for a long time.

thanksgiving & black friday!

it was thanksgiving last week and every year we celebrate it at my aunt's place in monroe. i still haven't received any of the pics that were taken from our gathering, you can be assurred that ill post them once i get them.

as usual, i ate more than what i said i should eat! but how can you say no to so much food on the table! hehehe =) i guess i'll just have to hit the gym again and get myself back on track. to think in a few weeks, it'll be Christmas which is another occassion for eating more than usual.

black friday experience!!!

franny, dom & i joined my cousin ger & jill go shopping on black friday! we first started out by heading out to woodbury commons around 1145pm, since for the first time, the outlet stores would be opening at midnight. the weather was still rather manageable in my opinion, what surprised me was the fact that there were people who actually got on a bus from port authority just to go shopping! i'd understand if you lived in the area, but to commute for almost an hour and half, wow...

was able to get some shopping done! =) finally got myself a new suit. ive had the same suit for the past few years already and i thought it was time to get a new one. with the discounts available, i was able to get myself a good deal on the one i got.

our next stop was bestbuy! we were at the store around 315am, and waited till it opened at 5am. i can't believe that we stood out there in 20degree weather! it was nice though that they provided some donuts and hot chocolate (which cooled so fast). i think after an hour, i could barely feel my toes! in some ways, it was a blessing that we were on the side of the building which blocked us from the wind. i doubt i would have lasted if we had to stand out there with the wind in our faces.

though i didn't get anything from bestbuy for myself, it was still a great experience! an experience which i don't see myself doing again.

mom's arrival

my mom arrived last thursday, nov 17. unfortunately, franny couldn't join us in picking her up since she had flown out to chicago earlier that morning. it was nice seeing my mom again! it has been roughly more than a year since she last came here (she attended my graduation last may 2004).

my tito bobby accompanied here coming here. too bad he only had a day or two here in new york. we took him around the day even though it happened to be one of the colder days of the week. we just went around the city, walked through fordham campus in rose hill. ate at minado (i love that place!), then just walked around midtown area.

comprehensives....

i just finished taking my monetary comprehensives earlier today. usually after a test i tend to go over my notes and check out whether i did get the answers to the question, but for some reason i decided not to this time. i guess i don't want to have any kind of inkling on what kind of mark i'll be getting.

when i last took my comp (for macroecon) i really wanted and aimed for a HP - high pass. now, i honestly don't care. of course, i would prefer to get a high pass but all i wanted at the end of the day was for the test to be over and done with. it doesn't even show on your transcript what you got anyway. the only thing it will say is that you did take the comp.

i still have 2 more to go, one in microecon and another in international economics. given my current schedule, i'll take the latter next semester and the former during the fall sem next year. it's really annoying that i wasn't able to take price theory 2, when they offered it a year ago. well i really had no business taking it anyway, i had just finished my MA then and was out of school.

i guess it's all pride when i say that i would like to get a high pass! =) nothing wrong with that. hehehe! ill find out in a week or two.

more important would be for me to really figure out what my dissertation research will be!

today was a really fun day! my dad, frances and i went out to the city. we had hoped to be able to watch the first game of the knicks. unfortunately, the game was sold out. i guess it doesn't matter whether the knicks will suck for the next season, people will still attend the opening home game =) we'll just get tickets for another game, there are 40 more games at home.

given that the weather was beautiful, we decided to walk from herald square (34th street) to times square and finally to Rockerfeller Center. then taking the bus we then headed to 23rd and 8th ave for some drinks and a late-night snack at Dallas BBQ.
