The Hierophant Card

You are the the Hierophant card. The Hierophant,
called The Pope in some decks, is the preserver
of cultural traditions. After entering The
Emperor's society, The Hierophant teaches us
its wisdom. The Hierophant learns and teaches
our cultural traditions. The discoveries our
ancestors have made influence the present.
Without forces such as The Hierophant who are
able to interpret and communicate traditional
lore, each generation would have to begin to
learn anew. As a force that is concentrated on
our past and our culture, The Hierophant can
sometimes be stubborn and set in his ways. This
is a negative trait he shares with his zodiac
sign, Taurus. But like Taurus he is productive.
His traditional lore can provide a source of
inspiration for the creatively inclined, and
his knowledge provides an excellent foundation
for those who come into their own in the
business world. Image from: Morgan E.

the plan

last time i went to the gym, my weight was 242lbs. given that, i now have a plan or schedule which i hope to meet....

by mid-september, my weight should be below 240lbs already.

by the end of november i should be below 230.

by the end of february, be around 220lbs.

main goal ---> get myself to around 210lbs.

sounds rough, but im sure that i will be able to get it down.

whats with all the spam

i was really surprised while going through other people's blogs. looks like nothing is safe now from spammers.

i notice i have a comment only to open it up to see a long, long, message on something im not interested in. at first i thought it was just some friend of mine pulling some prank, only to see that its not just my blog which has received such spam comments.

some people just have too much time.

i was tagged...

nice timing for me to get tagged. i haven't had a good thought to write about, so i guess this will do. hehehe =)

1. What are the things you enjoy, even when no one around you wants to go out and play?
  • reading some books and magazines
  • sending emails out to people i haven't been in touch with
  • surfing the net reading blogs and other interesting articles
  • re-arranging the stuff in my apartment
2. What lowers your stress/blood pressure/anxiety level?(in no particular order)
  • spending time with my honey
  • taking a nice nap
  • eating a nice snack
  • being able to chat with some friend
thats pretty much it. well i guess i now have to tag some people and they would be :
franny, ton, nicole, karen, leanne

how it went out....

i was playing poker yesterday. i joined this small tourney and was on the cusp of making it and winning. was a frustrating way to go out but what can i do. let me set up how the table was.

7 people left on the table, blinds were 300/600. i was the big blind for that round. i roughly had around $3300 (after paying the blinds). the person next to me raises it to 1200, (he had a total of around 3400 in chips) everyone folds and i look at my hand to see A-3 diamonds. since i was in the big blind, might as well call the raise.

on the flop : K-A-A (diamond-club-spade)

i check, he raises $750, i then decide to go all-in and he immediately calls me. i sort of guessed that he didnt have an ace, but that it was some pair. well i was right with the fact that he didnt have an ace. so i pretty much had a set of aces (3 of a kind), he turns up his hand and he has pair kings, which gives him full house kings over aces. you can't imagine how it felt seeing it! i was just shocked! obviously i still had some outs since i an ace, 3, or pairs on the turn and river would help.

but no, nothing helpful came up. though that hand didnt kick me out of the table, the next hand pretty much did since i didnt have any chips left to do anything. that's pretty much it. what a way to go. frustrating, but that's poker as they say...

NYC public lib lions & new shoes

i was in the area, so i thought that i might as well try a shot putting the two separate lions next to each other in one shot. if i remember correctly, some tour guide mentioned that their names are "perseverence" and "fortitude".

i also bought myself a new pair of rubber shoes. it was time for a new pair already, my old ones (which i bought in 2001) were really worn out. holes for the shoelaces were broken already (i had to tape some of them), and the air soles were the ones in contact with the ground already. too bad, i couldn't find the same shoes anywhere. i bought an old model that nike made. i think it first came out when i was in high school. i took a pic of them below since i couldnt find a pic of it online. hopefully they last another 4 years like the old ones. =)
