getting back on track!

i'm sure most of you readers are aware that i've been trying my best to get in shape for my upcoming. well not just for that, since it is better that i lose some pounds to make sure i live much longer.

i've started going back to the gym the past week or two. intentionally, i avoided checking my weight since i didn't want to learn about my progress right away (if there is any progress at all). but yesterday after working out, i decided that i should check to see how things were coming along.

current weight : 241lbs
weight loss: 4 lbs

i need to pick up the pace! i only have around 4 months to go!

good weekend

i had a pretty good weekend. having monday off was something which i really wasn't aware till it was thursday already. by then, it was a bit too late to plan anything major like an out-of-town trip or something. in the end, it was indeed better that i hadn't planned anything at all.

for once, i never did go out during the whole weekend. usually, i would end up having to go out to take care of some stuff which required me to go out into the city or some place else. but this was a different weekend. there was no sense of urgency in any of the items i had on my "to do" list.

pretty much all franny and i did was just hang out in the apartment and watch movies all day. in case you're curious, we watched the following -> War of the Worlds, Cinderella Man, Wedding Date, and Spaceballs. Cinderella Man was a really nice movie, i still prefer Gladiator but it was a good movie nonetheless. War of the Worlds though was a different matter altogether. it was such a LAME movie! good thing we just rented it and that i dont own a copy. the rest of the movies were okay. i had watched spaceballs numerous times already and still i get a kick out of jokes.

"light speed is too slow, we must go to Ludicrous speed!" hahahaha!

-----------------------

but if there was one thing that i was really glad i was able to take off my list. it was filing my taxes! the past few years, i've had other people prepare my taxes. this year, i thought that it might not that be difficult given that i don't have any property and assets which make it more complicated. since i was going to use H&R taxcut i thought it shouldnt be that bad. it was such a breeze, i could have been done in around 20 minutes, but i decided to go through every option and video that they had which prolonged the whole experience. im just glad that once i was done, it came out that i will be getting a refund! woohoo! i just hope that i get it soon enough and that they find no issues with what i submitted.

-----------------------

break's over though and its back to the work tomorrow! hope everyone has a good week! =)

what's the color of my mana?

i found this test on quizzila, made me remember the time when i was into the whole Magic the Gathering back in High School.

HASH(0x8db0aac)
Your Mana is BLUE. You are a thinker by nature and
love nothing more than a mental challenge and
must always seek answers to the problems you
see, almost obsessively. Your ability to
think your way through problems is valuable,
but in your quest for something new, don't
try to fix what isn't broken. Change is not
always good.
Your Enemies: Red(impulsive) and Green(unchanging)Your Allies: Black(sneaky=smart) and White(tactical
thinker)Creature you are most like: The Wizard

What color is your Mana?

the weekend of snow!

more than likely, most of you must have heard that we here in new york had a record-breaking amount of snowfall over the weekend. i actually wasn't able to take any pictures when the snow was falling or right after it stopped. but in case you would like to see some pics, let me direct you to my friend's blog where they posted some pics during the whole thing.

actually i did manage to take a pic the next night. i took it after my price theory class. it was a nice night, its the pic of fordham's keating hall and eddie's parade. ive been taking many pics of that area during the different seasons but i really liked it even more given that it was a nice calm night with a fall moon in the background.

it was really bad during the time when the snow was falling. right when it was over it was amazing to see how almost anything that was left outside was covered in snow. cars were buried and if not for the side view mirrors you wouldn't see them at all. if there is something which is annoying right after is when the snow begins to melt. it is just such a hassle to get around! the best way to describe the slush is to liken it to a slurpee, but just make it made of mud!

good thing though that the weather for the next few days will be really nice! it will be all above-freezing temperatures which will really help get rid of all the remaining snow and slush.

below is the pic of fordham.

going back to manila & other things..

given that we are getting married in manila, franny and i obviously will need to get ourselves some tickets back to manila. it was really frustrating since we really couldnt find anything reasonable for most of the time that we looked.

but for some reason, when we looked for tickets last week prices dropped! knowing that more than likely it wouldnt go down much more, we booked our tickets already. it cost us roughly $900 each, good thing we bought it at that price, since when we looked 2 days afterwards, the price of flight back home shot up to roughly $1500! lucky us!

in case you're cuious, we'll be flying out on may 29 and we'll be flying back in on aug 10.

------------

oh, last friday (2/3/06) we went out to Hop Kee for dinner to celebrate franny's birthday. afterwards we went to this nice italian place for dessert, Ferrara is the name if i remember correctly. it was really nice having everyone there. obviously the group is bit smaller now since most have moved. too bad, i forgot to bring a camera so i don't have any pics to post. next time i'll make sure i bring one.

------------

on wednesday (2/8/06), dr. salvatore had invited dr. stiglitz to give a lecture at fordham university. it was a very interesting talk. it wasn't one of those lectures where you end up worrying how you plan to keep yourself awake. he brought up a lot of great points about trade & globalization. well i guess if you really are interested in what he has to say, one can always go out and purchase his new book - Fair Trade for All.
